Mariah Mitchell, Esq.

Mariah Mitchell grew up in Baltimore, but spent her childhood summers in the Phippsburg area. With a goal of putting down roots in Maine, she attended both Colby College and the University of Maine School of Law. She’s now called the Portland area home for more than 15 years.

After law school, Mariah spent six years with Eaton Peabody practicing trusts and estates law. She joined HM Payson in late 2020, drawn to its time-tested reputation and collaborative team atmosphere.

As a Trust Officer, Mariah brings an extensive estate planning background to the Payson Trust & Estate Group and our clients. Experienced with the front end of document drafting, she knows what estate planning documents should contain in order to ensure they are administered consistently with clients’ objectives on the back end. And her legal background makes for seamless attorney collaboration.

Day to day, Mariah works directly with the other trust officers and the trust administrator while providing trusts and estates support to the entire Payson team. She especially enjoys working directly with clients to assist with their estate and tax planning and helping to carry out their estate planning goals through the trust administration process.
